If you need dimensions not specifically listed here, then please DO NOT ORDER, call or email us for a custom quote email@example.com . We can work to create the perfect corbels with your design and sizes.
Please understand that in the era when these were cut, either by hand or by saw, the beams are not always exactly square so there may be some ratio variance between the side and face dimensions (e.g. 7" wide face x 8" depth, etc.). Dimensions are nominal. If you need 'exact' dimensions, you will need to order Resawn corbels since we are not limited to retaining the original face sides (reducing the width of an existing piece of material means removing the original face sides).
Material is provided cleaned with nylon brush, but without additional finish or sealant. Each piece of wood is unique from the next. Images are for reference only, expect variation.
The BACK FACE and FRONT FACE are BAND SAW CUT and is a clean cut surface. Only the side faces are original face.
- Back Face is the face that faces the wall, the back of the corbel
- Front Face is the face that faces the room, the front of the corbel
- Height is the longest vertical dimension between the bottom and top of the corbel when viewed on the wall
- Width is the horizontal dimension from left side to right side when viewed on the wall
- Depth is the largest depth dimension from the front face back to the wall when viewed on the wall
Reclaimed barnwood has inherent cracks, checks, chips, knots, remnants of insects infestation, nail and mortise holes, etc., expect yours to have all of this desired character. All of our material is kiln dried and fumigated.

The Vintage Wood Floor Company is not a retailer or an importer. We are a manufacturer. Which means we produce our own products; managing the entire process from reclamation to delivery. Everything we offer is created under the watchful eye of our owner and Head Craftsman, who proudly trains each craftsman on our team. While we offer many products, we have only one standard – excellence. Our core business is custom work, making your visions come to life so if you have a project that requires an authentic touch let us show you what we can do.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reclaimed wood differs from new wood in that it has not been newly harvested. Not only is the practice of reclamation environmentally beneficial, it produces a floor or wall paneling with more beauty, uniqueness, and character. You'll be able to see the difference between new wood that has been made to look old, and truly antique reclaimed wood. Choosing reclaimed wood of--any variety--is the most ecologically sound decision you can make. The density of old growth wood is significantly greater than wood we would harvest today. This is often why furniture and other items made 75 years or more ago are so strong and resilient; because the wood was.
We offer our fireplace mantels in their natural state with their unfinished aged patina. We highly recommend enjoying the natural patina as nature intended. Once received, you could choose to seal the beam and soften the surface texture by applying a hand wax, but most clients stick with the natural look. Any application of a sealant, stain, or wax will change the color of the mantel.
We are typically able to ship all mantels shown for sale on our website the same day or the next business day depending upon when we receive the order and if the carrier has already done their pickup for the day, however, there are occasions such as holidays when it may take a few extra days.
We ship all of our mantel and shelf orders either via ground for lengths up to 8' (all lengths over 8′ or weights over 150 lbs ship by freight service on a custom long pallet so the shipping cost is significantly higher).
Probably the easiest and most common way to hang a fireplace mantel corbel--if the overall weight is not too heavy--is with a keyhole bracket. This is the most practical if the corbel isn't actually supporting the weight of the mantel.
If the corbels will be supporting the weight of the fireplace mantel beam then hard mounting with bolts will be necessary.
HANGING THE CORBEL
You can easily find keyhole brackets at your local hardware store. Follow the directions on the package to route or chisel out a pocket behind where the keyhole bracket will be placed. We suggest using two keyhole brackets to ensure the corbel doesn't "swing" or pivot.
